Hampshire Shakespeare Company is a 501(c)-(3) corporation founded in 1989.  Its mission is to make accessible to audiences and actors a range of theatrical experiences from the most profound to the most playful.  The Company brings together professional, amateur and student actors in five broad areas:

• Presenting the works of Shakespeare
• Developing and presenting new plays by regional playwrights
• Presenting theatrical events to new audiences in non-traditional locations
• Enriching private and public school programs with customized theatrical performances
• Providing training and opportunities for personal growth for actors of all ages through workshops and other events

The Company is a community-based organization with part-time seasonal professional staff, artistic associates and an elected board of directors.  It has two divisions:

• The Mainstage Division produces plays, play readings and other theatrical events.  It is governed by Hampshire Shakespeare Company's Artistic Associates.

• The Educational Division develops workshops and classes for actors and other members of the community.  It is directed by Steve Henderson.
