Arthur Kinney To Be First Seaker In Hampshire Shakespeare Company Pre-show Series
June 13, 2003 - Hadley, MA - Hampshire Shakespeare Company is pleased to present special
pre-show events every Friday night during its 2003 summer season. Far from being "lectures", these speakers will talk briefly about
some of the intriguing elements of the show the audience is about to see.
The well-known scholar, Professor Arthur Kinney, founder and director of the Massachusetts Center for Renaissance
Studies, will kick off the series on Friday, June 27. Prof. Kinney will set the stage for the HSC production of Richard III,
discussing the work as a history play. Kinney's many publications include Lies Like Truth: Shakespeare, Macbeth and the
Cultural Moment and Rogues, Vagabonds and Sturdy Beggars.
The production of Richard III opens on Wednesday, June 25 and runs Wednesdays through Sundays until July
13. Curtain is at 7:00 PM, with the pre-show talk beginning at 6:30 PM. HSC performs at The Hartsbrook School at 193 Bay
Road in Hadley, Massachusetts. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for students and seniors, and $6 for children to age 18.
