The Hampshire Shakespeare Company Mission Statement

The Hampshire Shakespeare Company mission is to make accessible to audiences and actors in the Pioneer Valley a range of theater experiences from the most profound to the most playful.  We seek to achieve this mission by presenting a balanced program in five broad areas.

We present plays from the Shakespeare canon in ways that make them understandable, thought-provoking and thoroughly entertaining to a modern audience.

We develop new plays, primarily by Valley playwrights, through workshops, platform readings and full productions.

We liberate live theater from its traditional forms and bring it to new audiences through unusual staging and improvisational performance in shopping malls, schools, museums, parks, inns and other venues.

We enhance education through use of theater arts programs in public and private schools.

We provide training for actors of all ages through theater workshops and other events.
